SIP Trunks

Overview

A SIP trunk connects FortiVoice to an external SIP service, allowing users to make and receive calls outside the FortiVoice system.

Inbound and outbound call routing rules determine how calls are routed between internal extensions and the SIP trunk. Direct Inward Dialing (DID) numbers can also be mapped to extensions or other FortiVoice destinations, allowing external callers to reach them directly.

FortiVoice systems can also be interconnected using Office Peer trunks. Office Peers provide additional capabilities for communication between FortiVoice systems, including the exchange of extension information.

In this section, you will configure a SIP trunk to the PSTN simulator, create outbound and inbound call routing rules, configure DID mappings, and place test calls.

The external numbering scheme used in the lab is described below. Replace NN with your assigned two-digit lab number.
